REAR SWAP
This is a guide on swapping a rear in a 3rd generation Camaro/Firebird. Remember to make sure that you have the front wheels chocked. That way the car won't roll forward/backward.

Support the car in the rear just in front of the trailing arms on both sides with jack stands as shown in the picture. |

The next step is to remove the wheels. |

While removing parts that hold the rear to the car, support it with a floor jack. Have the jack under the center section. Remove the end links from the bracket attached to the car. |

Remove the sway bar nuts and take out the sway bar. |
Take the sway bar bracket off the rear.

Remove the lower shock bolts from the rear. |

Remove the pan hard rod.

Remove the trailing arm bolts from the rear. |

Take a pair of visegrips and clamp the rubber brake hose going to the rear. This way no fluid will leak out while you are swapping the rear. |
Remove the hard lines from the brake hose. Then remove the bolt that holds the brake hose to the rear. |

A little hard to see. But remove the emergency brake cables from the center connection. |

At this point, lower the rear. Remove the torque arm bolts. Remove the driveshaft straps from the yoke. Then finish lowering the rear. |

The rear is now out of the car. |
Then just roll the rear out of the car. |

From here you reinstall all the stuff you unbolted. The springs, trailing arms bolts, shock bolts, driveshaft straps, torque arm bolts, brake line to the rear, pan hard rod bolts, e-brake cable to the center connection, sway bar clamps, and end links. MOST IMPORTANTLY!!! Release the visegrips from the rear brake hose. BLEED THE BRAKES!!! Then install the wheels. Make sure you go over everything before removing the car from the jack stands. |
